About Us
Continuing to pursue Dainichi-like beauty
Dainichi Koi Farm was founded in the 1950s by my father, Mano Minoru, and has been producing the three great Nishikigoi varieties, Kohaku, Taisho Sanke, and Showa Sanke, here in Ojiya, the birthplace of Nishikigoi. We cherish the bloodlines, environment, food, and techniques necessary to produce good koi. We, the three brothers, are the second generation to pursue the quality, patterns, and impressive body shapes that our predecessors have been particular about, and aim to produce impressive koi that are typical of Dainichi. Nishikigoi are artistic creatures, each with a unique pattern. Nishikigoi have been considered lucky in Japan and Asia since ancient times, and are also called "symbols of peace" because they do not fight over territory. With the desire to spread this wonderfulness to the world, we will continue to produce good koi while competing with our staff and former employees.

Main Store
Our main shop in Ojiya City, Niigata Prefecture, has over 350 ponds and over 100 spring water breeding facilities where we produce Nishikigoi. Numerous award-winning Nishikigoi are born there. In order to raise superior Nishikigoi, it is essential to improve your technique, have a sharp eye for selection, and have sensitivity and patience. The selection process is particularly important, and it is necessary to find gems that will shine in a few years at the rough stage. The growth of small koi is an unknown field, and it is rare to come across a koi that suddenly begins to shine. That moment is truly moving. And recently, I have come to want to create koi that impress me. I want to create koi that are innovative and captivate people at first sight. In order to pursue that ideal, I pour my passion into raising them every day.

Toyota Store
Dainichi Koi Farm Toyota Branch was established in 2005. We produce Nishikigoi in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. While carrying on the bloodline of Dainichi Koi Farm, we are challenging ourselves to produce koi that make the most of the natural environment of this region. The good water and sandy soil are a good match for Dainichi Kohaku, and we are also seeing positive results with Showa Sanshoku. Not limited to patterns, koi that are captivating with their individuality and body shapes teach us a new way to enjoy Nishikigoi. The beauty of space is truly the Japanese spirit. We want to share the joy of Nishikigoi with even more people. Please

QUALITY CONTROL
Management and training

A blessed environment and comprehensive facilities produce beautiful koi
All of our staff work hard every day to manage and raise the carp in order to produce beautiful carp. In the process, the deep snow environment unique to the Chuetsu region, the excellent facilities, and the skill to carefully mix the feed are essential.
Wild pond
The Chuetsu region of Niigata Prefecture, which receives heavy snowfall, is also one of the leading rice and sake producing areas in Japan, and the abundant meltwater from the snow makes it well suited to raising carp. There are roughly 200 ponds for carp of the same age and 150 ponds for carp aged two years or older, which spread out in all directions. While the rich soil allows the carp to grow freely and healthily, it also poses the challenge of dealing with the elements, such as the weather and predators. A person in charge is assigned to each area, and he or she devotes all his or her energy to raising carp while carefully examining the characteristics of each pond.

Spring water breeding
There are a total of 20 houses, including wintering houses and houses specializing in spring water rearing. Spring water rearing allows for detailed management and environment creation based on data such as water quality and water temperature, and allows for a close observation of the daily condition of the koi. This brings out the potential of each koi and increases their chances of becoming future champions. Koi to be exhibited at the competition are given the best possible finishing touches on the day.

Attention to food
Food is an essential element in raising good koi. In order to raise them beautifully and healthily, we use the best combination of high-quality nutrients. We adjust the mixture daily according to the climate, water quality, and water temperature of the year, as well as the stage of growth, and sometimes try to make further improvements while observing the koi. There is no end to this.
